Here we can see this reversing switch wiring diagram for the 1941 Chevrolet Passenger cars and Trucks. The wiring diagram shows the connections and operations of the switch. The purpose of this arrangement is to produce uniform wear on both the distributor contact points by periodically reversing the direction of the current flow across the points. When current passes through the points, there is a transfer of tungsten from one point to the other, depending upon the direction of current flow. By periodically reversing the flow of current this transfer is reversed, which result in increased point life.
