The LCD Terminal just like a normal terminal, it can connect to any host via RS-232 serial cable. A PC keyboard must connect to it as the input device and what ever you type will send to host via RS-232 and display on a 40×4 LCD.
Data receive from host can also display on the LCD unit.
You can use this device as any Unix/Linux machine’s console.
I build this controller based on a PIC16F628 MCU. The main feature are:
* Support a 40×4 LCD module
* Hardware 19200-baud RS-232 input, 96 bytes of receive buffer. Flow control are not supported
* LCD control command are compatible with my MO-LCD
* A PS/2 Keyboard interface can connect any PC keyboard on it.
